Switzerland has one of the most modern transportation infrastructures in Europe, you can travel almost throughout the entire country by public transport, traveling on their transport system offers a remarkable insight into this beautiful country.
Due to the mountainous terrain of Switzerland, they have built many bridges and tunnels that make transportation possible throughout the country regardless of the weather conditions, the trans-alpine tunnels allow travel through the Alps during the entire year.

The air transportation in Switzerland is operated by Swiss International airlines. The biggest international airports in Switzerland are located in Zurich, Geneva and Basel.

The Swiss railway system is first class and it covers more than 5000 kilometers. Some of the most spectacular train routes in Switzerland are the Bernese Oberland railway which climbs to the highest train station in Europe, Jungfraujoch - 3454 meters and the Glacier Express that goes from Zermatt to Saint Moritz.

The Swiss bus system is scheduled to coincide with the arrival and departure of trains. The biggest bus operator in Switzerland is Swiss Post if trains do not travel to a particular village, then the yellow buses will take you there, these brightly coloured yellow buses can be seen throughout the country.

The Swiss road system also follows the railways in quality. To drive in Switzerland you are required to pay a toll this can be purchased at the border or any petrol station at a cost of SFr. 40 and is valid for a year, you are given a decal to place on your windscreen as proof of payment, you must pay a separate toll for a trailer or caravan. If you are caught by the Swiss police for not displaying a decal you will be subject to a SFr.100 fine plus the cost of the toll.
The roads in Switzerland are well maintained making driving in Switzerland a pleasurable experience.
