Lenzerheide Situated along the Heidsee valley and the idyllic lake of the same name, picturesque Lenzerheide remains undiscovered by the English mass market. The skiing is extensive having over 94 miles of pistes mainly for beginners and intermediates split between the Rothorn and Statzerhorn. Which ever side you ski the runs lead you back to the village. Its also good for cross-country skiing with over 32 miles of tracks much of it along side the lake. For non skiers the eight natural ice curling rinks, tobogganing slopes at Obervaz , indoor swimming pool, ice skating, bowling, cinema ensure there is no shortage of activities to keep visitors occupied. Leukerbad The Alpentherme is the highlight of Leukerbad combined with some great skiing. The thermal bath facilities, therapy centre, fitness and beauty centres are set amid the fascinating mountain backdrop. The glorious nature of the Valais Alps plus the sports and recreational facilities cannot be found anywhere else in Switzerland. Mürren A charming traffic-free village reached by cable-car from the Lauterbrunnen valley, Mürren is a favourite with British skiers, Mürren is a cluster of traditional chalets, set dramatically on a terrace above the valley, and overlooked by the impressive Schilthorn at almost 10,000ft. For beginners, the nursery slopes are in the village, and the resort is a fantastic base for intermediates with good long red runs, as well as the famous ‘Kandahar’ run. Non-skiers will enjoy the variety of winter walking trails, as well as the stunning scenery. Visits to Wengen & Grindelwald are recommended for skiers and non-skiers alike, and in the evenings the mood is relaxed, with a few rustic bars and cafés. |
