Saas Fee The high Alpine village of Saas Fee is set in one of the most picturesque settings of all the alpine resorts, dominated by gigantic glaciers. The resort village of Saas Fee has successfully retained the charm of its rural past with narrow, winding car free streets, geranium bedecked wooden chalets. The mountain walking here is perfect through verdant meadows to some fabulous vantage points. If you prefer an easier start, a number of cable cars and chair lifts take you up into the mountains and peaks, a good selection of bars and restaurants complete this perfect setting. Travel in the world's highest underground funicular the 'Metro Alpine' from this scenic village, up to breathtaking mountain peaks then walk back down through clearly marked paths to Saas Fee, Saas Fee is blessed with a mild warm climate, while the large ice grotto provides cool pleasure at around 3343 meters. Pirmin Zurbriggen, came from here a local boy who was a downhill skiing world champion in the 1980s. |
