Grindelwald

Grindelwald is a sophisticated resort on a south facing slope opposite the awesome peaks of the Jungfrau, Monach and Eiger, perched at 1054 meters Grindelwald is surrounded by spectacular scenery.

The village has one long main street, lined with trendy shops, lively bars, restaurants and hotels, Grindelwald enjoys chalet-style houses with plenty of activities and mountain sports, within minutes you can be up in the mountains walking trails.

Take Grindelwald's own gondola up to First for over 150 miles of fabulous scenic and hiking trails with all levels of difficulty enjoying unforgettable views and some amazing walks.

Grindelwald holds the perfect balance for winter and summer sports, it is one of the busiest sports resorts in Switzerland and attracts visitors from all over the world. Countless walking and climbing excursions are possible from here in the summer including the ascent of the north face of the Eiger or for those who prefer to keep both feet firmly on the ground you can walk the Eiger Trail. Winter brings the onset of skiing and Grindelwald comes into its own as a ski resort with amazing downhill runs and cross country skiing.

An essential excursion from Grindelwald is a trip up the Jungfraujoch, where you will find the highest railway station in Europe, this is reached by the rack-railway from  Kleine Scheidegg, the tunnel has been excavated in the north face of the Eiger and Mönch. Once one the top you have magnificent views of the peaks and the Aletsch Glacier.
